Cydia pomonella granuloviruses (CpGV) are a group of viruses that belong to the genus Granulovirus within the family Baculoviridae. These viruses are most commonly known for their ability to infect and control the population of codling moth (Cydia pomonella), which is a major pest of apple and pear trees.
The CpGV viruses are characterized by their rod-shaped, enveloped virions that contain a circular, double-stranded DNA genome. They exhibit a strict host range, primarily affecting Lepidopteran insects, and are highly specific to the codling moth larvae.
